My name is Ms. Gawel, but most call me Ms. G or Coach G. I am going into my 6th year as a high school physical education teacher. I am also the Varsity Boys’ Soccer Coach and the Assistant Softball Coach at Career High School, in New Haven, CT. During this time, I’ve continued to learn every day. Whether that is from my esteemed colleagues or my inspiring students and athletes. I’ve been able to continue to better myself as a person and professional. I believe that once a teacher stops striving to learn new skills, then it is time for someone to help remind them why they became a teacher in the first place. My personal philosophy of learning is that every person is unique in their own way and therefore should be given a secure, caring and stimulating environment to have all opportunities given to them, allowing them to reach their full potential physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially.  As an educator it is our responsibility to create an environment that is conducive to all learners. We have to remember that when teaching, we need to teach the whole student. Being able to teach students how to become lifelong learners of any subject should be our number one priority.
